José Altuve, The Small but Mighty Star of Houston, Secures a Big Payday with Contract Extension

The Houston Astros just made a big announcement! José Altuve, their star second baseman and leadoff hitter, is staying with the team for even longer. They're giving him a five-year contract extension worth a whopping $125 million! That means he'll be playing with them until at least 2029.

This deal is a big vote of confidence in Altuve's skills. He's not the tallest player out there, but he's definitely one of the best. The contract includes a $15 million signing bonus, which is a nice bonus for Altuve.

Starting after this season, Altuve will be making $30 million a year from 2025 to 2027, and then $10 million each in 2028 and 2029. That's a pretty sweet paycheck!

And it's not Altuve's first rodeo with contract extensions. This is actually his third one with the Astros. He's been with them his whole career, and it looks like they're not ready to let him go anytime soon.

Altuve, who will be 34 in May, has had some impressive stats over the years. He's led the American League in hits four times, batting three times, and stolen bases twice. That's some serious talent right there!
