Inter Miami's Friendly Tour Kicks Off in El Salvador
The Southern Florida team is kicking off its series of friendly matches with a game against the El Salvador national team this Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time at Cuscatlรกn Stadium in San Salvador. Led by Gerardo Martino, the team begins a seven-game journey that will take them through El Salvador, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Japan before returning to Miami to conclude the tour against Argentina's Newell’s Old Boys.
Nothing Better Than Playing with Friends
In a throwback photo shared by Inter Miami's official account, four friends and exceptional players—Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and new recruit Luis Suรกrez—are seen reuniting for a new adventure after their illustrious time at Barcelona. Suรกrez expressed excitement at the prospect, stating, “It's an image that brings back fond memories, can inspire people, and now it's our turn to show them on the field.”
The latest addition to Martino's team comes from Brazil's Gremio and promises goals. Suรกrez, who scored 26 goals in 22 games last year for Porto Alegre, arrives as the goal-scoring boost that Inter Miami needed and the final piece to create a formidable lineup with his former Barcelona teammates.
El Salvador Welcomes Messi and Company
In El Salvador, anticipation is building to welcome Messi and his teammates. The Cuscatlรกn Stadium is expected to be full, with tickets ranging from $200 to $475, all sold electronically, with a maximum purchase of 12 tickets per credit card.
On the sporting front, Spanish coach David Dรณniga hasn't confirmed the lineup yet but acknowledges the challenge of facing Inter Miami. He emphasizes collective effort to try and contain the Argentine star, Messi.
Harold Osorio of Chicago Fire admits Messi is his idol but stresses that once on the field, Messi is just another player. He affirms their goal is to "have a great game and go for the victory."
Inter Miami's Preseason Journey
The Southern Florida team begins its friendly tour with El Salvador as the first stop. Martino takes his four stars for the opening match of a tour that includes six more games across the United States, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Following the match against El Salvador, Inter Miami heads to Dallas to face Dallas FC next Monday. After that encounter, they'll travel over 12,000 kilometers to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for two friendlies. The first, on January 29, against Neymar's Al Hilal, sans the Brazilian star due to injury. The second, a nostalgic showdown between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as Inter Miami faces Al-Nassr on February 1 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time in Kingdom Arena.
The last two matches in Asia are scheduled for February 4 against Hong Kong XI and February 7 against Vissel Kobe from the Japanese league. The tour concludes in Miami when Inter Miami takes on Lionel Messi's beloved Argentine
team, Newell's Old Boys.
