Liverpool reclaimed their spot at the top of the Premier League table with a solid 3-1 victory over Burnley at Anfield on Saturday.
Initially, Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm, allowing Burnley to dominate the early exchanges. Despite Burnley's early pressure, it was Liverpool who struck first, with Diogo Jota heading in a goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner.
Just before halftime, Burnley managed to level the score with an impressive header from Dara O'Shea, putting Liverpool's lead in jeopardy.
At the start of the second half, Liverpool manager Vincent Kompany made a crucial substitution, bringing on Harvey Elliott in place of Alexander-Arnold. The move paid off almost immediately, as Elliott provided the assist for Luis DÃaz's goal, putting Liverpool back in the lead.
Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was a standout performer for Liverpool, making a crucial save to deny David Datro Fofana. Fofana had another opportunity moments later, but his shot went wide. However, Liverpool missed a chance to extend their lead when Jota's shot was saved by James Trafford instead of setting up Darwin Núñez for a better opportunity.
Nevertheless, Núñez got his goal shortly after, with a well-placed header from Elliott's second assist of the match.
Overall, it was a solid performance from Liverpool, with key contributions from Elliott and Kelleher helping secure an important victory.
