Jean-Charles Castelletto managed to pull one back for Cameroon with a header seven minutes before the end, creating tension in the match. However, George-Kevin Nkoudou missed a free header that could have equalized the score, and Sadio Mane sealed the win for Senegal in stoppage time.


Senegal, if they avoid defeat in their final group match against Guinea on Tuesday, will top Group C. Guinea is currently second in the table after a 1-0 victory over The Gambia, meaning Cameroon will likely need a win against The Gambia on Tuesday to progress to the knockout stages.


Cameroon, with one point from two games, could still advance as one of the four best third-placed teams if they do not surpass Guinea on goal difference or goals scored.


Andre Onana returned to goal for Cameroon after missing their previous match against Guinea. However, he faced criticism for Senegal's opener, where his clearing punch from a corner was headed back into the box, allowing Ismaila Sarr to score.


Senegal doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Habib Diallo capitalized on some slick interplay, sliding home Ismaila Sarr's low ball from six yards out.


Cameroon, missing the attacking threat of injured Vincent Aboubakar and with Karl Toko Ekambi on the bench, struggled for most of the match. Castelletto's powerful header from Olivier Ntcham's cross sparked hope for the Indomitable Lions, but they couldn't find the equalizer.


Nkoudou's missed opportunity in the 94th minute proved crucial as Senegal immediately capitalized on the other end, with Sadio Mane carefully guiding Idrissa Gana Gueye's pass into the bottom left-hand corner from just inside the area.


Senegal, guided by coach Aliou Cisse, who led them to their first Afcon title two years ago, aims to defend their title successfully and become the first team to retain the trophy since Egypt in 2010.
